The Town Team, Town Council, Civic Society and the support of many St Ives community groups have made the application to the Department for Culture, Media and Sport to become ‘Town of Culture’.
The Town Team has put forward a year long programme of events which includes workshops from professionals on all aspects of film making leading to the creation of an annual Old Riverport Film Festival. Alongside this will be a son et lumière on the mediaeval bridge, featuring local musicians topped off with a firework display.The general theme is “the river runs through us” and will explore how trade, migration, people and history has shaped the town today.
Our local survey received nearly 500 responses and showed 86% support for the Film Festival.
