followed by a talk by Angus Wainwright on the ‘Archaeology of Orford Ness’

‘Orford Ness would be my favourite National Trust property. It is an extraordinary desert like place punctuated by strange shaped buildings, the crumbling remains of 80 years of military research.  For an archaeologist more used to interpreting woodland earthworks it was a challenge to unpick the history of this unusual place.’

Angus is the National Trust Archaeologist for the East of England and has been working there since 1994; his first project being the recreation of the parterres on the lawns at Wimpole.
