Dear All,

Our Open Meetings Are Back!

In just two weeks, our first open meeting in 19 months, will be Friday 17th September 2021 at 7.30pm in the Free Church. Our speaker will be John Gibson, a Trustee of SERV Suffolk and Cambridgeshire. SERV stands for Service by Emergency Response Volunteers, and are often simply called the Bloodrunners.
 
 
 
 
 
HODs are here again, same idea, slightly different. This year it is Heritage Open Day, notice the singular, on Saturday 18th September and all the locations are open from 10 am to 4 pm. We will have an early start in the Farmers Market sharing a stall with St Ives Eco Action. By 9.45 there will be two members in town, easily found as they will be wearing a very bright pink sash, bright pink and blue being the colours of HODs, this is not a personal decision. The afternoon finds two different members similarly attired. These brave members have a supply of free pens and flyers plus a sheet of information that might come in useful for really interested visitors e.g where the boot scrapers are located. Some of our members may not need a crib sheet; but I certainly will.
 
 
 
 
 
This year there are interesting snippets in the flyer, miscellaneous information about our town; showing residents and visitors that there is much more to St Ives than just an old bridge with an old chapel. With Heritage Open Day, Farmers Market, St Ives Eco Action in the Methodist Church and The Old Riverport Jazz and Blues Festival all on the same day, St Ives will be the place to be on Saturday 18th September. More mundane, thank you for your continued interest in the Society. Our modest membership fee is now due, thank you to our members who have paid by direct debit. Our Annual Report is now being printed and will be distributed shortly, it will include details of any membership fee now due. The report will also include a flyer detailing information on our Heritage Open Day.


At our AGM in October we will be electing the Committee for the coming year. While we always welcome new members, for this year in particular, we have some of our Committee standing down and we are very keen to fill those vacancies.
