Spalding Flower Festival - April 2011

Saturday 30th April 2011 saw Members of the Civic Society visit the Spalding Flower Festival and discover the many charms and secrets of this pretty little town. The photos (kindly supplied by Jill Yewdall) show the fantastic parade that has made this festival world famous!

The Houses of Parliament - September 2009

Members of the Civic Society visited The Houses of Parliament and the Jewel Tower on Wednesday 9th September. They were met by our MP Jonathan Djanogly and then enjoyed a guided tour of The House of Commons, The House of Lords and the Royal Apartments. After lunch they visited the historic Jewel Tower across the road next door to Westminster Abbey.

Northampton - August 2007

The Civic Society not only tries to protect the town’s many interesting buildings, it also continues to provide its members with a chance to visit interesting towns and cities within a reasonable travelling distance of St Ives. For example August 2007 saw a coach full of our members descending on Northampton for the day. The gallery below shows a few photographs of what was seen during that visit.

The Cleanup Campaign - May 2006

The Civic Society had previously donated a picnic bench to the town and it had been positioned along-side The Thicket path, to be used by the many walkers that regularly use that route. Howver the bench had become very dirty, especially over the winter months, and was in much need of a 'spring claen'. So a few members of the Civic Society spent several hours, equipped with scrubbing brushes, detergent, etc. and returned the bench to a clean and usable condition. The photos below show two of our enthusiastic volunteers!
